Sound Meter: SPL & Noise Meter is a completely free application used to measure the sound level in your environment. Noise pollution is a big problem nowadays. Knowing the level of noise pollution in your surroundings will help you make the right choice for your environment, as well as measures to protect your ears. The app uses the mobile device’s microphone to capture sound, then analyzes and measures the sound intensity in your surroundings, especially the location closest to the microphone. The unit of noise intensity is the decibel (dB). You will be taking sound measurements over a period of time.

The Sound Meter will then calculate and display different noise levels: minimum noise level, maximum noise level, average level during the measurement. With these indicators, the application will issue warnings if the audio index exceeds the acceptable limit that the human ear can hear. Information about the sound level during the measurement will be displayed directly on the graph. The histogram will show you the sound intensity for each time period, showing the change in sound from the beginning of the measurement to the end of the image. This will help you know if the sound level during the measurement is stable or not.

After measuring the noise in your environment, the app will provide you with a reference table of noise levels for some basic sounds to compare. For example, the smallest is breathing (10 dB), then the sound of a clock (20 dB), some environments, such as the sound of a motorcycle, is 90 dB, the subway is 100 dB, and some special sounds, as annoying as gunshots, up to 140 dB. records audio measurement history with date and time, and specific noise index information, giving you the most objective comparison between environments. The app configuration is also easy to use.
